The public garden of Bordeaux
A true green lung of the city, the public garden has been offering almost 11 hectares of greenery to residents and curious walkers since 1746. It was the first garden designed from the outset to be open to the public. Originally designed “in the French style”, it became “in the English style” in the19th century, when it was used to train apothecaries and doctors in Bordeaux. Today, you can still enjoy about thirty remarkable botanical species as well as an arboretum of several hundred trees. In the park, there are also sculptures, magnificent buildings and freshwater animals.
This Bordeaux gem is classified as a “Remarkable Garden of France“, and it includes many attractions for families. A mobile application will allow you to recognize plants and birdsong. Looking for and flashing QR codes is fun but also … enriching!
